Adoption Application Review

When your foster pet receives an adoption application, the adoption coordinators will review it to determine if the applicant could be a potential match. If they believe the applicant is a good fit, they will preliminarily approve the application and assign it to you for further review. You will then receive an email from JotForm/Sara containing the application details.

Contacting the Applicant

Initial Message:

Hi (adopters name)! My name is (your name), I am a (volunteer/foster) with PAWS. We received your adoption application for (animal’s name) and wanted to reach out and see what questions you have about (him/her)?

Process Message:

If you decide you’d like to adopt, I would go ahead and notify the Adoption Coordinator and they will send you the contract to sign via a Jotform email. Following the full execution of the contract you will receive another email with the payment form to pay the adoption fee. The adoption fee for a local adoption is (Insert Adoption Price here - pricing can be found here).

If all of that sounds good, I can have the adoption coordinator mark your application as interested in adopting and we can schedule your meet & greet!

Foster Next Steps:

Please notify the adoption coordinator the date and time of your meet and greet. This will allow us to make sure the rescue president is available to sign the contract. The applicant must sign and pay the adoption fee prior to taking home their new family member.

**Sometimes adopters want to review the contract in advance, let us know and we can push through the application.**

Transport Applicants

Initial Message:

Process Message:

Here’s some information about our process! We are a rescue based in Texas and we transport most of our dogs up north once they’re adopted due to the insanely high euthanasia rates here. Prior to adoption, we will have a video chat/phone call to ensure you and (animal’s name) are the perfect fit for each other!

Following our video/phone call, if you decide you’d like to adopt, I would go ahead and notify the Adoption Coordinator and they will send you the contract to sign via Jotform email. Simultaneously, the Transport Coordinator will reach out with the available transportation dates. Following the full execution of the contract you will receive another email with the payment form to pay the adoption fee. The adoption fee for a transport adoption is (Insert Adoption Price here - pricing can be found here) and includes all vetting, transport fee and health certificate. Once the fee is paid, the Transportation Coordinator will book (his/her) spot on transport. The Transportation Coordinator will receive the official transport schedule a few days before departure and will send that over as soon as it is received. Most of our transport companies provide updates via a Facebook group chat. Once all pups are picked up, adopters will be added to the group chat to receive updates along the way.

Until (animal’s name)’s transport date, I will keep you updated with pics and videos. If all of that sounds good, I can have the adoption coordinator mark your application as interested in adopting!

Foster Next Steps:

Please notify the Adoption Coordinator that the applicant would like to move forward. The Adoption Coordinator will push their application through for processing.

Pre-Adoption Option

We allow pre-adoption with prior approval from Sara in select circumstances.

Reach out to your Adoption Coordinator with the reasoning for the pre-adoption. Your Adoption Coordinator will reach out to Sara to seek approval. Typically we only allow pre-adoptions if the pet is not fully ready to be adopted such as they haven’t been spayed or neutered or they haven’t received all of their shots.

Following their approval for pre-adoption, they will receive an email with the pre-adoption contract. Once the pre-adoption contract is fully executed by both the adopter and Sara they will receive and email with the pre-adoption deposit payment form. Once they pay the $50 deposit, they will receive an email with a “coupon code”. They must save this code to apply their deposit to the full adoption payment during checkout. Once the pet is ready to go home, you must notify the Adoption Coordinator or Sara, and they will push the application through so they adopter will receive the adoption contract. Once the adoption contract is fully executed they will receive another email with the adoption payment form. They will enter the coupon code from the pre-adoption payment email at checkout to apply the $50 deposit.
