Pet Transport Guide

Below is the general process that takes place once the applicant decides to proceed with adoption:

  1. Foster Notifies the Adoption Coordinator
The foster informs the Adoption Coordinator about the applicant's decision to adopt.

  2. Application Processing & Contract
The Adoption Coordinator reviews the application and sends the adoption contract to the applicant via a JotForm email.

  3. Transportation Coordination
The Transport Coordinator contacts both the Foster and the Applicant to provide available transport dates.
Note: When agreeing to a transport date, ensure you can meet the health certificate requirements outlined below before the transport departure.

  4. Adoption Contract & Fee
The adopter must sign the Adoption Contract and pay the adoption fee before the transport can be confirmed and scheduled.

  5. Transport Schedule
A few days before departure, the Transport Coordinator receives the official transport schedule and will share it with you promptly.

  6. Facebook Group Chat
The transport company will create a Facebook group chat around the same time. Either the Transport Coordinator or the Rescue President will add you to the group.
Note: Most transport companies use a Facebook Group Chat but a few have a text message group chat.

  7. Updates During Transport
Once all pets are picked up, adopters are added to the group chat to receive updates throughout the transport journey.

Health Certificates

Health certificates are required to be obtained no more than 7 days prior to departure and must be obtained no less than 3 days before departure. Please review the graphics regarding pre-approved vets. For the smoothest experience please notify Sara of the veterinary clinic you are bringing your foster to and the day at least two days in advance. This will allow her to have adequate time to send in a prior authorization.

Following the receipt of the Health Certificate, you must email a photo copy of the certificate along with any medical documentation to Erin.pawsvolunteer@gmail.com. When you bring your foster to their transportation pick up location, you must hand them the above mentioned documents in an envelope clearly labeled with their name and the rescue name.
